THE BERGISCHES LAND

The Bergisches Land is a region in North Rhine Westphalia (Germany) that, apart from the three-city triangle Remscheid–Solingen–Wuppertal also includes the district of Mettmann, the independent city of Leverkusen, the Rheinisch Bergisch and Oberbergisch district as well as parts of the Rhine-Sieg district. It therefore makes up the southeastern part of the North Rhine region and—except for the cities and municipalities located in the Bay of Cologne—forms part of the Rheinisch slate mountains.
